What is beetroot powder?
Beetroot powder is fresh beetroot that has been washed, sliced, dried and finely ground. In Urdu, beetroot is chukandar (چقندر), so you will also see it sold as chukandar powder.
Beetroot is mostly water. Drying takes the water out, so a small spoon of powder is made from a lot of fresh beetroot: one 5 g spoon is roughly 40 g of fresh beetroot. Unlike fresh beetroot, the powder needs no peeling, no juicer and no stained chopping board, and a pouch keeps for months.

What is naturally in beetroot
- Dietary nitrate: beetroot is one of the vegetables richest in natural nitrate, which is why it is widely studied in sports nutrition.
- Folate (vitamin B9).
- Potassium and manganese.
- Fibre.
- Betalains: the natural pigments that give beetroot its deep red colour.
- Natural sugar: the mild sweetness is beetroot's own. A pure powder has no added sugar.
Wellridge Beetroot Powder is a food, not a medicine. It is not meant to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
6 easy ways to use beetroot powder
- Lemon water: 1 spoon, the juice of half a lemon and a glass of cold water. The easiest way to start.
- Pink lassi: blend 1 spoon with yogurt, a little milk and sugar or honey.
- Smoothie: add 1 spoon to a banana and berry smoothie for colour and an earthy sweetness.
- Honey glass: stir 1 spoon and a spoon of honey into warm (not hot) water.
- Juice: mix it into orange, apple or pomegranate juice.
- Cooking: add a spoon to pancake batter, halwa or roti dough for a natural pink colour.

Tip: stir it into a little water first to make a smooth paste, then add the rest of the drink. It mixes faster and does not clump.
How much should you have?
We suggest one level spoon (5 g) a day in a glass. If the taste is new to you, start with half a spoon. One 120 g pouch makes about 24 glasses, so it lasts more than three weeks at one glass a day.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, take any medication or have a medical condition, please ask your doctor before adding it to your routine.
Good to know: after eating beetroot, many people notice pink or red urine. This comes from the natural red colour and is common.

How to choose a good beetroot powder
- One ingredient. The label should say beetroot powder and nothing else. Some products are blends with sugar, flavours or fillers.
- Net weight on the pack. You should know exactly how many grams you are paying for.
- Deep red-purple colour. A dull brown colour can mean old or badly stored powder.
- A sealed zip-lock pouch with a desiccant, so the powder stays dry and free-flowing.
- A brand you can reach, with clear delivery and return terms.
How to store it
Keep the pouch in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Close the zip after every use and always use a dry spoon. If the powder forms small lumps, it is just moisture: shake the pouch or break them with a spoon.
